Kinetrol Rotary Dashpots
Kinetrol rotary dashpots are precision fluid damping devices that provide smooth resistance to shaft rotation, increasing with angular velocity. Two types of dashpots are available to suit a wide range of applications.
- Vane Dashpots
Vane dashpots provide limited movement with a high damping rate, making them suitable for applications involving oscillating motion.
- Continuous Rotation Dashpots
Continuous rotation dashpots offer unlimited movement with a lower damping rate.
Silicone Fluid (Polydimethyl Siloxane – DC200 or Equivalent)
Silicone fluid is used as the damping medium due to its stable viscosity characteristics. Dashpots are normally vacuum filled.

VANE DASHPOTS
The vane dashpot is a displacement-type damper. As the vane on the shaft rotates between the fixed vanes on the body, silicone fluid is transferred in a controlled manner from one side of the vane to the other. Damping can occur in both directions, or valves can be fitted to provide damping in only one direction. In the KD unit, shaft sealing is achieved using a cylindrical rubber seal bonded to both the shaft and the body for effective sealing. All other vane dashpot models use a lip seal.

Contınuous Rotatıon Dashpots
Continuous rotation dashpots provide viscous damping by shearing thin layers of silicone fluid between concentric surfaces of a rotor and a fixed stator. Damping is normally bidirectional. The shaft is sealed with a lip seal. Damping can be adjusted by moving the stator relative to the rotor, thereby changing the effective thickness of the sheared fluid layer.
